For the last four years, construction in the Lancaster, Ohio has been few. For 2013, all sorts of construction projects are planned, including everything from homes to offices to schools. Travis Markwood, president of the Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce told the Lancaster Eagle Gazette that “it’s going to have a trickle-down effect for local businesses.”
The building projects include five new elementary schools with a budget of $81 million, three of which are scheduled to be completed in 2015 with the other two opening in 2017. Steve Wigston, the Lancaster superintendent of schools noted that “all the construction going on across the city this year should provide a great economic impact to the local community and we are pleased to be a part of it.”
Additionally, the city will see a $35 million expansion of the Fairfield Medical Center and a $430,000 renovation of the new location of the VA Clinic. Schottenstein Real Estate Group is developing a 24-building apartment complex.
