Sandra Malm of Big Builder listed five ways in which Epcon Communities has built homes to attract the “active-adult.”

First on the list was “no steps.” Tim Rini, Epcon Communities’ vice president of franchising, told Big Builder, “All of our homes have first-floor master bedrooms.”

Exterior maintenance was also included in every community. "Active adults don't want to deal with that kind of stuff. They want to kick back more, travel more," Rini stated, as quoted by Big Builder. "We sell that lifestyle."

Epcon discovered in a recent study that “boomer buyers” preferred “private outdoor space.” Therefore, Epcon built private courtyards into all of their designs.
